Today we are facing a world that is becoming more and more technological. In most of our lifetimes we have seen inventions that 20 years ago we never would have imagined possible.

For teachers this means that there is a whole new task. No longer can they just teach using tried and tested methods of the past. Certainly standing in front of your students writing at a chalk board, or whiteboard in most cases these days, can still have its place; that is how most of us were taught and it is a fantastic teaching method in its own right. Yet today children are raised on computers and on the internet and understand technology in a way that many of the older generation never will.

To stay relevant teachers are now looking online for teaching methods and ideas that are both interesting and informative. On our about page at Instructionaltechtalk we offer that we are “dedicated to providing new and consistent information about instructional technology”. We want to do everything we can to help instructors stay up to date and relevant.

Students these days are becoming more and more connected to technology so it only makes sense that this is the new way to teach.

The best way: Projection system

One of the best ways to share information is through a projection system. Not only can the information be shared with other teachers through this method but it can also be shared with students. NMS.com states that using technology in the classroom, keeps students focused for longer periods and makes students more excited to learn. Imagine teaching a full college course about apps and coding through a large screen at the front of the class. You’d find that your students are more engaged and eager to assimilate information.

Projection system

Steve, Presentation Tech Expert at Videonations told us that their clients give them highly positive feedback stating that the “interest and comprehension have gone up immensely among students engage through high-tech projection systems. The content presented is more diverse and more engaging”.

Technology is becoming more pervasive in all areas of society. Videoconferencing is another area that is expanding fast. Even health agencies have begun to use this new technology. Dr. Marc Zubrow told ABC2 news that “Right now about somewhere between 12 and 13 percent of all ICU beds in the United States are under some form of Tele-ICU system, so it really is coming into mainstream medicine.”

Often there are more patients than doctors available so being able to outsource the work to a doctor stationed elsewhere can be extremely helpful. Imagine going to the doctor’s office and getting to meet with someone living across the country, or even halfway around the world. This is the wave of the future.

With more businesses and schools embracing technology communication and collaboration can be so much better than in the past. Projection systems can even be tied into videoconferencing systems to deliver lectures to conference rooms and classrooms rooms from distance. Information can be shared with students at the click of a button and information sources (Internet, YouTube, cloud, network files, and other presenters) changed just as easily.

Takeaway

Technology can make learning environments much better, and can provide access to teachers around the world. It is an enhancement not a replacement for teaching though, and we must ensure that the quality of information increases with the deployment of technology.
